Crisp, sunny mornings. Cool, dark nights. Colour dripping from trees. Bountiful gardens.

Hello fall. We’ve missed you (and your tasty invitation to use the oven and stove once again). Fall is an absolute splendor for fresh foods and cooking inspiration. A time for harvest and preservation. Warm up today and enjoy the flavours of our favourite fall meals:

  • Breakfast: Carrot Cake Baked Oatmeal
Angela Liddon’s Oh She Glows has a number of gems, and this baked oatmeal is only one. Make it on Sunday night, then enjoy for the rest of the week. We love to top with a dollop of greek yogurt.
  • Lunch: Curried Butternut Squash Soup
Kate’s Cookie and Cake recipe site is simply scrumptious. We love a warm soup at lunchtime. Add some chicken or chickpeas for extra protein and a whole grain roll on the side. It’s a hug at lunchtime.
  • Supper: Quinoa Salad with Apples and Chickpeas
What says Canuck better than apples? Enjoy the harvest in this fresh salad that’s great for a main dish, side item and days of leftovers. We love this salad in a tortilla or lettuce wrap or on the side of roasted pork or chicken.
