Shape up for spring with a running start! Registration underway for 20th Annual CDC Run/Walk on April 10

Known as much for its incredible spirit as for the number of folks who hit the streets to raise funds for children with special needs, the Child Development Centre (CDC) Run/Walk is gearing up another amazing event Sunday, April 10.

Registration is now open for the 20th annual event, which raised $34,000 last year thanks to the participation of about 300 community members of all ages and abilities.

Runners and walkers can register at  Anyone who registers by March 23 will receive a free t-shirt.  And for the first time this year, a team registration discount is available for teams that pre-register for the 5K and 10K runs.

Along with the longer runs, the event features a fun, kid-sized 1 km run.  The hub of the action will be at the Queen’s University Athletics & Recreation Centre (284 Earl Street), with the kids’ race starting at 9:30 am and the adult race at 10 am.

“This event gets better every year, which is wonderful for the children and families who are involved with CDC,” says CDC Manager Christine Kasserra.  “The funds raised help to purchase equipment, support specialized education and training, initiate new programs, and assist families with the exceptional costs associated with raising a child with special needs.

“We’ve heard from families that the CDC can make a world of difference in their lives, and everyone who supports this event can help to make that happen.”
