NEW SPECIALIZED CLINIC SUITES JEANNE MANCE 4 AND 5

  • Purpose-built space for specialized outpatient clinics that includes reception areas, waiting areas, examination/consultation rooms, procedure/assessment rooms, conference rooms and multi-disciplinary teaching areas
  • Satellite specimen collection centre on Jeanne Mance 5

    Benefits:

    • Supports the transfer of most of the remaining outpatient clinics from Kingston General Hospital
    • Ensures greater convenience and clarity for patients navigating outpatient clinic/procedure visits
    • Enhances privacy for patients and patient information through optimal configuration of space, sound-absorbing materials and private areas for caregiver discussions
    • Provides space and opportunities for multi-disciplinary teaching and research
  • NEW CYSTOSCOPY/PROCEDURE SUITE - JOHNSON 4

    New purpose-built space and procedure rooms for:

    • diagnostic cystoscopies (examination of the bladder, urethra, prostate)
    • urodynamics (testing to help in the diagnosis of incontinence or problems with urinary frequency)
    • biofeedback testing and treatment (used primarily to re-train the pelvic floor muscles for patients with incontinence)
    Benefits:
    • Supports Urology outpatient activity, including clinics on Jeanne Mance 4 and Jeanne Mance 5
    • Consolidates Urological testing and treatment
    • Provides space and opportunities for teaching and research
    NEW ELEVATOR TOWER - JOHNSON 1

    Construction of new elevator tower for two elevators and stairwells on south side of hospital

    Benefits:

    • Provides additional vertical access to all hospital floors for staff and hospital service departments
    • Frees up the main elevators for patients, families and visitors
    NEW QUARTERS FOR FACILITIES MANAGEMENT - JOHNSON 0

    Renovations to relocate Facilities Management Department to a single hospital location, including:

    • Offices and administration areas for Facilities Management
    • Offices and equipment holding areas for Housekeeping
    • Maintenance shops—general shop, carpentry, electrical, painting and mechanical/welding
    Benefits:
    • Frees up space for new construction on Jeanne Mance 5
    • Consolidates Facilities in one convenient location for hospital staff
    NEW PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING LAB - BROCK 4

    New lab space to accommodate services in support of the diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory conditions, e.g. asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    Benefits:

    • Provides one-stop convenience for patients attending other HDH specialized outpatient clinics, e.g., young patients attending the Cystic Fibrosis clinic in the Children’s Outpatient Centre
    • Provides space and opportunities for teaching and research
