A cornerstone of accountability in our provincial health care system is the agreement each health care provider enters into with its Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) to qualify for funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
The Broader Public Sector Accountability Act establishes rules and higher accountability standards for hospitals. Please review our Expenses, Procurement and Conservation and Demand Management Plan.
Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) applies to hospitals. Members of the public have the right to access recorded information held by hospitals—including records of personal information.
Patient safety is about constantly working to avoid, manage and treat unsafe acts within the healthcare system. On a day-to-day basis, it translates into actions such as monitoring for the spread of infection, educating staff, patients and families about hand hygiene, using the best sterilization processes for equipment, providing a safe, clean physical environment, and much more.
The Hotel Dieu Hospital commitment to clinical and organizational excellence, consistent with the hospital’s mission, vision, values and strategic directions and with provincial and regional priorities.
