Shape up for spring with a running start! Annual CDC Run/Walk set for March 23

(Kingston, ON, March 14/2014) Three client ambassadors are happy to be supporting the 2014 Child Development Centre Walk/Run on Sunday, March 23.

Three-year old Gage, eight-year old Dominic and 17-year-old Chad are all familiar faces at the Child Development Centre (CDC), a Children’s Treatment Centre located at Hotel Dieu Hospital that offers services to children and youth who have physical, neurological or developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Autism.

“From the moment that we met the staff at the CDC there was a feeling of support and hope, not just for Gage, but for the whole family”, says Kelly Spencer. Gage has Lissencephaly and Cerebral Palsy. He was referred to the CDC as a baby and is now sitting up, using his hands, playing with toys and moves around in his own way. “Thanks to the support of the CDC the feeling of hopelessness has changed into hope and excitement to see what Gage will do next.”

Gage, Dominic, Chad and their families will be on hand for the annual Run/Walk on March 23, sponsored by 360 Wealth Group. The Run/Walk is geared to raising money to purchase essential equipment and specialized assessment and treatment materials such as wheelchairs and computer technology.

The Run/Walk features a fun, kid-sized 1 km run plus 5km and 10km walk/run events. The hub of the action will be at the Queen’s University Athletics & Recreation Centre, 284 Earl Street, with the kids’ race starting at 9:30 am and the adult race at 10 am. A children’s interactive musical activity and a break dancing show will follow the kids’ event race and promises to be fun for everyone!

All runners and walkers are still welcome to register. For more information on how to donate, or to register please visit the Child Development Centre WebsiteLike us on Facebook at Child Development Centre Run..
