This year, we continued to be innovative and creative in meeting the growing health care needs of patients in our region, finding savings to ensure a balanced budget while still seeing more patients and providing more services in high-demand areas of health care such dermatology, chronic pain and bariatrics.

As we move into a new year, we are grateful for the staff, physicians, leaders and volunteers who take such pride in their work at Hotel Dieu Hospital and who epitomize our mission and values each day.  We are honoured to share in our Sisters’ important legacy as we work together to carry on their good work now and into the future.

Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, Chief of Medical & Academic Affairs/Chief of Staff

I am very proud of the accomplishments of colleagues and staff at Hotel Dieu Hospital during the last year. Some highlights include our exemplary status from the 2015 Accreditation Canada assessment, the expansion of the chronic pain clinic and its inclusion in the CIHR network of centres of excellence in pain research, the impending commencement of bariatric surgery in the fall of 2016, remarkably high ambulatory clinic utilization, and the further increase in our large portfolio of ambulatory and short-stay activities despite constrained resources. These achievements are testimony to the remarkable dedication of colleagues and staff at Hotel Dieu Hospital to our patients’ needs. The dominant theme for the coming year will, no doubt, be the planned integration of Hotel Dieu and Kingston General hospitals and we look forward to working together towards that exciting development.
